Read Pacific Scholarship Programme
At Read Pacific, we believe education has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities and create opportunities for future generations. As part of our commitment to supporting education throughout the Pacific, we provide scholarships to secondary school students in Years 10 to 13 who may otherwise be unable to complete their schooling due to financial hardship.
The scholarship programme is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work. Over the years, we have had the privilege of supporting many talented young people on their educational journey and it has been incredibly satisfying to watch former recipients go on to achieve success in tertiary education, professional careers and community leadership roles.
Scholarships are awarded equally to female and male students and are designed to help remove financial barriers that might prevent capable students from reaching their full potential.

Honouring a Legacy
Our scholarship programme was established in memory of the Reverend Frank McKean, whose vision for education inspired generations of learners throughout the Pacific. Rev. McKean was the driving force behind “Operation Bookworm”, a remarkable initiative launched in 1979 that provided brand-new books to more than 250 schools across Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.
Today, Read Pacific proudly continues this legacy by investing directly in the education of Pacific students.
Scholarship Success Stories
Gaetan Pikioune Junior
Vanuatu
Originally from Santo, Vanuatu, Gaetan received support from Read Pacific to complete Year 13 at Malapoa College. He went on to graduate from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Economics.
Following graduation, Gaetan worked as a Junior Auditor and Accountant with Barrett & Partners before joining the Utilities Regulatory Authority of Vanuatu as an Assistant Auditor. His dedication and achievements have made him an outstanding role model for younger students and we are proud to have played a small part in helping him achieve his goals.
Stanley Ailson
Vanuatu
Stanley, from the island of Malekula, was supported by Read Pacific during his final year at Malapoa College. He later completed a Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion through the Fiji School of Medicine before continuing his studies in Medicine.
Stanley’s determination and commitment to learning have been inspiring. His advice to future scholarship recipients is simple: never take opportunities for granted, aim high and make the most of your time. Success follows those who are willing to work for it.
Trianna Peter
Vanuatu
Trianna is currently completing her secondary education with the support of a Read Pacific scholarship. Her ambition is to become a teacher and help improve educational outcomes for future generations in her community.
She sees the challenges and lessons encountered along her journey as opportunities for growth and believes that perseverance and education will help her make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Investing in the Future
Every scholarship represents more than financial support. It is an investment in a young person’s future, their family, their community and the wider Pacific region. We are honoured to play a role in helping students pursue their dreams and look forward to supporting many more future leaders in the years ahead.
